MEN'S FASHION - EVERYDAY WARDROBE GUIDE!

Ok guys, I agree that when it comes to clothes, you all don't have as many options we women might have, but the good news is - you can still get a fabulously fantastic wardrobe in place if you make the basic necessary changes in the way you shop and more importantly, the way you dress up!

Keep it Simple yet Stylish!

We are here to help you in getting the best out of limited (great) options that you come across when it comes to buying outfits, accessories, footwear and other essentials.

Lets start right away!

1. First, please take the pain to scan through your wardrobe and just dump those worn out, old shirts and trousers (Remember the good old saying, No pains, no gains?). Pack them in a. box to pass them on to the less privileged. I would advice you to have a women (your wife, mom or girlfriend!) by your side, to keep you going through this scan process!

2. Second, after an honest scanning (feeling much lighter, right?) check on how many shirts, trousers, suits and blazers are you actually left with.

3. You need to have a minimum of 10-12 excellent pairs of smart, great fit shirts and 7-8 pairs of well fitting trousers that you can mix and match for various occasions. Less than this, is an alarm to get your wardrobe replenished ASAP!

4. 2-3 Casual/formal blazers and minimum 2-3 suits is what completes your ideal wardrobe!

5.Depending upon the colors, designs and number of the outfits in your wardrobe, you need to take a call on how much more would you require. Don't be an impulsive buyer - Take a note of the existing colors and numbers and prepare a rough list (putting it down on paper would make this a hell lot easier, I promise!), of how many and what kind of outfits and accessories would you require, to complete your wardrobe.

6.Once through, go for shopping to stores that offer multiple brands under one store, so as to get an idea about the various fits and designs offered by the different brands.

7.While trying on shirts, keep in mind that the shoulders don't droop and that there is no excess fabric around the waist after tucking in. See yourself in the mirror! Do you look great? Excellent! Lets move to the trousers section.....

8.Pleated trousers are long out of fashion, plus they flatter very specific body types. The safest and smartest style to go with is the flat-front (i.e. without the front pleats!)

9. Last but not the least, shop for neutral accessories and footwear that can go with most of the outfits in your wardrobe.

Check out a few stylish looks that you can adopt by combining outfits from your existing wardrobe!

How to Create "The Classic Wardrobe?"

The only wardrobe that never goes out of style, is a classic wardrobe! And while most of us visualize creating a wardrobe full of classic staples, we end up buying outfits that look frumpy, ill-fitted and lifeless on us.

In order to Create a stylish and chic classic wardrobe, the first and most important thing you ought to keep in mind is - your body shape! It needs much awareness and education on understanding the fits that flatter your body. Do not go on a shopping spree unless you are clear of whats good and whats not! Follow these simple steps and you could start off fathoming the quintessential rules for developing a stylish wardrobe:

  • Know You Body: Understand your body-type and work around it. Especially the issue areas, as you need to conceal them. for e.g. If you are heavy on your tummy, opt for an A-line dress, rather than a dress that is fitted at the waist.

A-LINE DRESS (1) (dress:zara)

A-LINE DRESS (2) (dress:zara)

Dresses like the ones above, hide the area around your tummy, highlighting the ones that can be flaunted - e.g: toned arms and legs, shoulders, etc.

  • Shop for Wardrobe Essentials: In order to rediscover a wardrobe that is ever stylish, you need to opt for the classic styles. Do not go overboard in experimenting with fits and designs. First identify the fits that flatter you, then prepare a list of the essentials....These may be as follows:
  • A black well fitted formal dress
  • A cocktail dress in metallic color
  • A well tailored black semi-formal jacket (wear at work, party, evenings, just anywhere!)
